Where it All Started
Abundant Life Church was founded in 1913 when Sally Walker & Lula Slaten began hosting prayer meetings in their homes following Sally’s miraculous healing of tuberculosis at the first Pentecostal revival in the Alton area. In 1915, the congregation became affiliated with the Assemblies of God and land was first purchased on Edwards St. for $600. To learn more about our incredible history, join us for Growth Track.
Our Future
Since 1913, God has been faithfully writing the story of this church.
Standing on the shoulders of those who have gone before us, Abundant Life Church continues to move forward with faith and expectation. We are committed to helping people know God deeply, grow together in authentic community, and make a difference — right here in the Riverbend and around the world.
The foundation is strong. The mission is clear. And we truly believe the best is still ahead.
